Background
The International Congress of Celtic Studies is the foremost international gathering of scholars researching the languages, literature and cultural traditions of the Celtic speaking peoples. Held every four years, the congress convenes experts from across the full range of Celtic studies to share their work and collaborate.
Challenge
With a small team, the congress organising committee require a venue that not only delivers the accommodation requirements, but that can also support with a dedicated and experienced conference organising team. The delegation must also be supported with quality, budget friendly housing and the venue should be able to support with in house catering and be able to source local entertainment appropriate to the theme of the congress.
Solution
Bangor University offered a versatile range of spaces and quality accommodation onsite, the client was impressed by the level of support the Bangor conference team were able to offer as well as the academic support that was forthcoming from the university faculty. The Bangor University conference team worked with the congress committee to deliver a seamless event, supporting travel arrangements for the international delegation, working with local suppliers to arrange meet and greet throughout the arrival day and also provided a reception offering a range of local, ethically sourced food and drink delicacies to set the scene for the four day congress.
All services were provided from the in-house team from AV for all meeting spaces and the gala dinner in the impressive Prichard Jones Hall. The university team also brought together a group of local musicians to entertain at the dinner. The University catering team delivered all the congress requirements, showcasing local produce at all times and all delegates were housed in the University’s high quality and budget friendly accommodation.
