Awards dinners are a vital part of any corporate calendar
Awards dinners bring people together to celebrate, reward and encourage achievement. Gary Doherty, Chief Executive of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board explains how important the gala dinners are to reward staff "It’s a very important night. Every year it is a chance for us to say thank you to some staff for doing some amazing things, to say well done, thank you and have a damn good party!”
Over 300 delegates attended the awards dinner event held at the North Wales conference venue Venue Cymru for a night of speeches, awards, dinner and live music – including the Welsh Elvis: a member of staff at the Health Board, and the band Plural Tap, followed by dancing.
Why Venue Cymru?
Venue Cymru was chosen, says Gary, as, “We were looking for somewhere that was central and well-connected for travel. Somewhere that had opportunities if people wanted to stay overnight, with some good hotels all within walking distance. In particular, a venue with expertise in audio, visual and lighting, which are all very important elements for tonight’s event. The room looks incredible, it is an amazing venue and the feedback has been fantastic.”
North Wales for business events
The Health Board also holds many other events, from research conferences, planning away days, to meeting with partners.
Gary Doherty, Chief Executive of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health BoardWe use all sorts of venues and there are some great venues in the region, big and small, and people here are used to putting on events”
“We get a lot of visitors in North Wales, so people here are really well experienced in putting on events and catering for all sorts of people doing all sorts of things. So it’s a really easy thing to do, and you’ve got all sorts of opportunities here that you can rely on.
This is a fantastic region. North Wales is a wonderful place and it has got everything that you would want. It has amazing scenery, amazing people and the most amazing culture and history. It has got good links in terms of road and rail. It has its own airport. You can get here from Liverpool or Manchester very quickly. It has all sorts of activities that you can do whether they are leisure or business. It has universities, it has research, it has everything that one could want. I think North Wales is a fantastic region and I am proud and delighted to work here. I would recommend it to anyone who has not had the opportunity to get here so far and I look forward to seeing them.”
